Would you put that in your pasty?

You may remember when I did my best to explain the pasty and mentioned a pasty can be filled with pretty much anything, but I had to do a double take when I saw this poster yesterday:

That's right - a breakfast pasty filled with beans and sausage.  Does this make anyone else but me want to barf?

Tell me - what would fill your dream pasty?

  1. Actually, it scares me a little that I'm not as grossed out about this as I should be. I lived there way too long....

  2. Bleeeurrrg! That looks horrendous.

I like my pasties the traditional way ... except that I don't eat red meat, so I put chicken in mine. So I guess not traditional at all. But we do take our pasties quite seriously down here. Aside from meat, they should only contain potatoes, onions and swede.

  3. I'm a cheese and onion pasty kind of girl (although I havent had one is so long I could cry), but if I were to design my dream pasty, I think it would end up like a hand-held salmon en croute. Salmon, creamy saucy stuff, maybe some asparagus. Yum yum.

  4. Yuck! Can you put chocolate in a pasty? I think that's the only way I'd be willing to eat one.

  5. Oh Jenny, have you never had a pasty!? Don't knock it 'till you try it. A pasty is Corwall's best gift to the rest of the UK... its like their way of saying "we're sorry life is much better here in Cornwall and our beaches beat the hell out of your countryside or concrete jungle anyday, so here's the pasty to make it up to you".

  6. Baked beans anyway make me want to barf, so seeing them "spilling" out of a pasty (with a likely gross sausage to boot!) looks a little too much like the pasty has in fact been gutted and it's entrails are spilling out...

  7. Wow that looks gross. I imagine it would be quite messy too.
